Stage 1: Sediment Filter

The Sediment Filter works as the first barrier in the Reverse Osmosis System, removing solid particles like silt, rust and dirt from the water and reducing a significant percentage of contaminants in the water. It prevents the other filters from getting clogged with fine particles and reduces the risk of damages to the other components.

iSpring’s first stage Sediment Filter (FP15) features a 5 micron size, perfect for capturing most of the fine sediments in the municipal water and preventing issues from clogs and pressure loss with filters that have smaller micron sizes.

Stage 2: Granular Activated Carbon Filter

Activated Carbon filters can trap and absorb organic chemicals and chlorine from the water effectively with its ability of mechanical filtration and physical adsorption. It can efficiently remove odors and improve the water taste.

Furthermore, the iSpring 2nd stage Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filter (FG15) includes special carbon media that filters out impurity in the water, which can efficiently protect and prolong the lifespan of the reverse osmosis membrane.

Stage 3: Carbon Block Filter

Further removes any remaining chlorine, tastes, and odors. Replace approximately every 6 months.

Stage 4: Reverse Osmosis Membrane

The reverse osmosis membrane is a thin film composite membrane that can remove up to 99% of over 1, 000 contaminants in the water, including lead (removes up to 98% of lead), chlorine, fluoride, arsenic, asbestos, calcium, sodium, and more.

Tested by independent third-party to meet NSF/ANSI Standards, iSpring Reverse Osmosis Membrane is made of food-grade high capacity material that provides high packing density to remove contaminants. With the 0.0001 micron size, it only allows water molecules to squeeze through and virtually nothing else.

Stage 6: Alkaline Filter

The RO membrane removes not only harmful pollutants but also most minerals. As a result, a standard 5 stage RO system produces slightly acidic water with a pH of 7.0 or less.

As the 6th stage Alkaline filter, iSpring alkaline filter (FA15) restores minerals and produces balanced alkalinity. It uses natural mineral stones as the filtration media and never sacrifices quality for quantity. It can last up to 6-12 months depending on your source water and usage.

Stage 6 / 7: UV Filter

Unique flow sensor switch turns the UV unit on and off automatically with water flow, saving power and lengthening the life of the UV lamp.

Flow rate: 1.0 GPM; Lamp lasts 8,000 hours. It is recommended that you replace the UV bulb every year.
