The booster pump addresses the problem of low water pressure at the source, bringing the pressure going into the membrane up to the ideal level. In doing so, the booster pump optimizes every aspect of the reverse osmosis process from production speed to drain ratio.

Precision Performance
The RCC7P-AK is a pressure-boosted, multi-layered filter system that provides optimal protection against over 1,000 different types of contaminants, including arsenic, asbestos, chlorine, fluoride, lead, mercury, sodium, and more. Boosting the water pressure improves the performance of the Reverse Osmosis filter stage increasing water production speed and reducing waste water. This is essential when the home water pressure is low (below 40 PSI).
- 3 Pre-filters: PP sediment filter. Carbon KDF (GAC) filter. Carbon block (CTO) filter. They remove large contaminants and protect the RO membrane from chemicals like chlorine and chloramines.
- The heart of the system is the Reverse Osmosis (RO) filter that removes contaminants down to 0.0001 microns – so small that only water molecules can squeeze through but virtually nothing else.
- Fine GAC filter provides final polishing before the purified water is delivered to the faucet.
- An Alkaline Remineralization filter restores healthy minerals and a natural alkaline balance, while also producing a more natural taste.

The advantage of having both 5-micron GAC & CTO filters is that loose carbon (GAC, KDF) is better at trapping large contaminants, leaving only smaller ones to the CTO carbon block filter. This allows the CTO filter and RO membrane to function at their maximum efficiency and last longer.

We live in a more rural area and have always had concerns about our water. We constantly read articles about chemicals being dumped in the river, etc. My wife also complained about the taste of our tap water. We used a combination of the filtered water from our fridge and we also got the delivery of those big 5 gallon containers. I did a quick calc and found that this thing would pay for itself in less than 6 months compared to the water delivery we were getting. I watched the 10 minute install video and kept it going through the install for reference. I know it looks complicated with all the filters and tubes, but it really isnt! Everything is color coded and you just push a tub into a hole and thats it. One note - make sure you push the tubes in hard enough. I thought I did - but when i kicked the water supply on, I had several leaks. I pushed those tubes in and they went in another inch and that solved all my problems. The faucet looks nice too. I was concerned it would look weird to have two faucets at our sink - our normal one and this one next to it....but it actually looks nice. We tested our water before and after the filter install. We were surprised that our water tested at 109ppm, which is alot lower (a good thing) than whats considered good tap water. We were shocked to find out the filter brought that all the way down to 9ppm!!! We use this water every morning for our Keurig, so I am interested to see if this impacts how often we have to clean the Keurig (flushing the whole system with vinegar). The included water/flood alarm is a nice touch too....it gives me peace of mind to know if a leak does develop that the alarm will let me know before it gets to be a big problem. We have had alot of friends see the system and tell us they are going to pick one up when they get home. For us, this was definitely worth it!
